The first TCUP Book Club will read Paul D'Anieri's new book, Ukraine and Russia: From Civilized Divorce to Uncivil War . The book, which covers the period from 1989 to 2015, examines Ukraine's geopolitical importance, its relationship with Russia and place in the former Soviet Union, and its journey from independence to revolution to war. Explore Ukraine's Contemporary Religious Landscape in MAPA's New Story Map Journal MAPA: Digital Atlas of Ukraine has launched the Religious Pluralism in Ukraine Story Map Journal, which presents narrative explanation and analysis alongside maps and charts. It considers aspects of Ukraine's religious landscape such as frequency of participation in worship services, attitudes toward church unification, and (mis)alignment of church resources (such as buildings) and number of parishioners. HURI Presents New Database Project at AATSEEL Conference On Sunday, February 9 from 10:15 to 12:00 pm in Balboa 1, Oleh Kotsyuba, HURI Manager of Publications, and Sandra Joy Russell, PhD Candidate in Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will lead the AATSEEL workshop, "Bringing Ukraine into the Classroom: Utilizing Ukraine’s Primary Database of English Translations of Literature, Documents, and Films.” Opportunities for Harvard Students Undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard University can apply for funding to carry out research in Ukraine this summer . HURI offers grants of up to $2,500 for graduate students and $2,000 for undergraduates. Applications are accepted from January 15 through March 5. Graduate students focusing on Ukraine may apply for Graduate Research Fellowships for the 2020-21 academic year. Applications are due March 20. More news...
